Important Women's Ministry Announcement

The Session is excited to announce "Prepare for Life" Bible Study is coming to Bethel. Renowned teacher, Kathy Phillips, with her soft-spoken manner, exuberant sense of humor and personal stories, make Biblical lessons easy to understand and incorporate into daily lives. Simply put, Kathy's lessons go right to the heart of the matter.

Perfect for all ages and all walks of life, each study brings the Word of God to life for everyone from the well-versed Bible student to those who have perhaps never opened a Bible before.

This year's study will be in Acts. We're excited at the prospect of learning God's Word together and being transformed by the renewing of our hearts and minds. We hope you'll join us!

Join us on this Tuesday at 9:30 am or on Wednesday evenings on September 25th! We already have 240+ women registered to attend. To register, go to bethelofhouston.com/women. Childcare provided.
Men's Life Kick-off Report

Men's Life kicked off this past Thursday morning at 6 am. We enjoyed a great turn out to this new initiative and covet your prayers as we meet weekly to engage one another in authentic biblical manhood for the glory of God.

In case you missed it, we were honored this last Thursday to be joined by the Blue's Brothers. Watch the video below...

Men's Life with Blues Brothers

We are also excited to introduce a Wednesday evening Men's Life option for guys that can't make it out on Thursday mornings at 6 am. The Wednesday night group begins next week, September 19 at 7 pm in Room 231. Register at bethelofhouston.com/men if you plan to attend.
Please Fill Out the Congregational Survey

The Internal Task Force Committee has recently completed a survey that we would like all members and regular attenders to prayerfully answer by this Sunday. This survey is will be part of God's process to help the Elders of Bethel to discern God's vision for Bethel in the next 5-10 years. The Elders are called by God to prayerfully discern the vision, not as a demographic vote, but rather by a serious assessment of the needs and hopes of the church as a whole. This survey is part of the listening process the Elders are using.

We've received only 120+ surveys so far. Please set aside 5 minutes to fill out the survey by clicking here. We value your input and thank you for your participation in this effort.
Bethel's Outreach to Prisoners

Did you know that Bethel has been involved in prison ministry for 10+ years?

Write-Way Prison Ministries (WPM), the Emmaus prison ministry coordinator for Texas & Louisiana, is a Bible correspondence school for prisoners, whether in city or county jails, state prison, or Federal prison. They are dedicated to the propagation of the gospel and the promotion of Christian growth in the Word of God through free Bible correspondence courses to prisoners in the State of Texas and Louisiana. The Emmaus Curriculum along with Navigator Study Guides is used by Write-Way Prison Ministries, Inc. These self-paced study courses have proven to be one the most effective ways to present Biblical truths to others.

Through Cathy Oliver and Robin Craig, Bethel became involved in this ministry in late 1999. Since 2001, Cliff Adams has led the group of Bethel volunteers that grade course exams for WPM. Currently 14 volunteers grade a total average of 35 lessons per week. Most lessons have 12 topic exams with multiple choice questions. These exams are graded using a PC based or online grading tool. Each topic exam has one question requiring a written answer. The remaining studies are from the Navigators and all answers are written out. The written answers along with patterns in the multiple choice questions provide many opportunities for the grader to mentor and disciple the student.

If you wish to learn more in this ministry initiative, please contact Cliff Adams (713.729.8971), Jim Hickernell (713.683.8802) or Ralph Spaugh (713.334.4153).

Bethel Church exists to glorify God by preaching and teaching His Word, the Bible - desiring to see people everywhere changed into passionate, growing followers of Jesus.
